What type of light bulb is needed for plants to grow?

i would like to grow a plant indoor, and i was wondering what type of light is needed

well . . there are plants and there are plants . . many house plants do fine on a window sill or next to the sliding glass door. But the ones you have to hide in the closet will need grow lites

You need a grow light. I like CFL(compact fluorescent) grow light bulbs, they put off all spectrums off light great for both vegetative and flowering growth.
