No matter what kind of fish I have in my 55 gal., they don’t grow. I’ve had tropicals, cichlids and now koi. I feed them about every 2-3 days because i do know that they don’t need food every single day to live. but, i don’t keep my light on a lot because i have them in my living room which gets enough sunlight. What’s the problem?

Every year when I see the pepper and tomato seedlings at the market, they seem better looking than the ones I’m growing at home.
I still grow mine every year to get the varieties I want.
Without buying grow lights, what can I do to make my seedlings tougher looking?
I put them in the potting soil that is supposed to have Miracle Grow in it.
Am I not feeding them enough in those eight weeks?
Any suggestions appreciated.
